The SUNBIRD-CUBE Test Post Monitor is a compact Cathodic Protection Remote Monitoring Unit (RMU) designed for precise solid-state interruption of critical bonds that is solar-powered and incorporates the latest communication technology with single and dual current options available.

No battery replacement required – ever! And with the ability to utilize advanced cellular backhauls the device is guaranteed to perform in the field for years with the added benefit of wide geographical coverage.

Installation is simplified with no laptops or cellphones required. Data is automatically transmitted at configured intervals with fast logging rates and built-in GPS to confirm data is originating from the intended location.

Interruption is used to carry out close Interval and DCVG (Direct Current Voltage Gradient) surveys and ON/OFF surveys at CP test posts. In cases where pipelines have cathodic protection systems in proximity that are crossing other pipelines with interconnected bonds, recording accurate “polarized off” potentials can be difficult. The time and cost to locate and manually disconnect all of the affected bonds can be considerable.

Interruption and cycle time management can be controlled from a tablet or cell phone direct from the field with an internet connection. The device can record ON/OFF pipe-to-soil potentials, native coupon potentials and measurements of interfering AC currents. SUNBIRD’s plug-and-play installation allows all measurements to be taken automatically and the data seamlessly transmitted to iCPSM4.
